This painting was authenticated by Carol Broderson, the artist's wife.

Broderson graduated from Duke University in 1950. He taught at Duke and North Carolina State University for several years during the 1960s, before leaving teaching to devote himself fully to painting. His work may be found at the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York, as well as the North Carolina Museum of Art in Raleigh.

Light surface grime; minor stable craquelure; two small paint flakes in lower right corner within doorframe; small paint flake in window to right of woman's head.
