Paul Vincent Bernard is a Salt Lake City based painter and printmaker whose practice occupies a compelling intersection of disciplines. Working on aluminum and hardboard panels, Bernard applies a spray enamel ground before incising the surface with a rotary tool and finishing with wiped oil color, a process that is simultaneously painterly, printerly, and sculptural, the deeply carved surfaces lending his works a striking physical dimension. His printmaking practice is equally wide-ranging, encompassing stone and aluminum plate lithography, etching and intaglio, relief printing, woodcut, and monoprint, all produced from his studio at Poor Yorick Studios in South Salt Lake City.
Stylistically, Bernard navigates the space between minimalism and abstract expressionism, moving fluidly between restraint and gesture. It is in that tension between control and release, surface and depth, the mechanical and the handmade that his most distinctive work emerges.

Good estate condition.
