All with hand-painted decoration featuring ladies with gilt hair, the first a table lamp, signed and dated 2014 to base (15 x 9 3/4 in. diameter); the second a frosted glass vase, signed and dated 1995 to gilt hair of one lady (11 x 5 1/4 in.); the third a painted ceramic jardiniere, signed and dated 1993 to one vignette (6 1/2 x 8 1/2 in.); and the fourth a small lacquered box, signed and dated to lower right of lid (2 1/2 x 5 1/4 x 3 3/4 in.). This lot is accompanied by (2) decorative carved wood stands for display.

Stephen White is an acclaimed artist living and practicing in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. He is known for his textured paintings with gilt highlights that are inspired by ancient Byzantine techniques and Asian influences. White’s favorite model, a woman named Marian, has been the muse for the stylized female figures often depicted in White’s work throughout his career.
