Flying Cloud was a clipper ship built by Donald McKay that set the world's sailing record for the fastest passage between New York and San Francisco, 89 days 8 hours. Navigated by Eleanor Creesy with her husband Josiah Perkins Creesey as skipper, the ship beat its own 1851 record in 1854 and held it for over 135 years until 1989.
