Broderson graduated from Duke University in 1950. He taught at Duke and North Carolina State University for several years during the 1960s, before leaving teaching to devote himself fully to painting. His work may be found at the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York, as well as the North Carolina Museum of Art in Raleigh.

Possible small tears to lower right and left corners; not examined out of the frame.
