Meiji period (1868-1912), a pair of tall bamboo shaped porcelain vases hand painted with playful cats frolicking in the grass amidst peonies, a thick gilt karakusa border below the rim with iron red ground and gilt floral vine decoration, above the lower foot three bands of decoration in various patterns in iron red and gilt, each is signed to the underside Kutani Miyakawa zo.
14 1/4 in., 6 in. diameter
One vase with two small chips and one nick to base and crack reaching from rim to central body with associated restoration; the other with a few short very faint hairlines to shoulder; both with minor gilt rubbing.
