Meiji or Taisho period, early 20th century, porcelain hand painted with enamels and gilt, finely painted with chrysanthemums, butterflies, and autumn grasses on a milky white ground, the rim highlighted with scrolling gilt decoration and stylized maple leaves in underglaze blue, iron red, and pale green, with an elegant scalloped rim, underside with indistinct blue mark.

3 3/4 in., 8 3/4 in. diameter

A few small areas of light paint and gilt rubbing; otherwise good estate condition.
