Léon Girardet was a French-born Swiss painter and illustrator known for his genre scenes, historical subjects, and depictions of everyday life. A member of the prominent Girardet family of artists, he trained in Paris and exhibited regularly at the Paris Salon, earning recognition for his strong draftsmanship and narrative compositions. Unfortunately, his career was cut short by his early death at the age of 40.

Toning to the sheet, a couple barely visible edge tears, not examined outside the frame.
