The Collection of Karen & Robert Milnes, Asheville, North Carolina Byron Temple was first exposed to handcrafted pottery through the ceramic pots his family used on a rural farm in Indiana. His interest in ceramics led him to study at Ball State University, the Brooklyn Museum Art School, and the Art Institute of Chicago. The artist spent two years working in England with ceramist Bernard Leach, who helped the artist to develop a personal style based on pots that did not sacrifice beauty for functionality.
