Early 19th century, manner of Edward Smylie (1817-1849), unsigned, comprising a pair of andirons with brazed brass columnar stem with dual stepped octagonal knops, raised on distinctive scrolled legs centering an inverted acorn finial raised four inverted cup feet, retaining iron billet bars peened to the posterior. Together a set of three fire tools and stand, including a poker, shovel, and tongs, each with brazed brass handle construction. Also included is a later Victorian toasting fork with pierced handle, stamped with registration number to the reverse.

Some denting to brass elements one scrolled leg with screwed repair; some natural rust spotting to iron; tool stand with later base.
