American Classical Cherry Tall Post Bed with Tester

Circa 1840, fabric panel tester set on four tall faceted posts, scrolled and paneled headboard, shaped hook rails and conforming plain footboard, block feet.

Mattress dimensions appear to be 54 x 72 in.; DOA 102 x 63 x 80 in.

From the Estate of the late Mr. Oscar E. Menzer, Memphis, Tennessee. Oscar was a renowned architect and Yale graduate who studied under the greats: Eero Saarinen, Philip Johnson and Louis Kahn; designing 100s of the most beautiful homes of Memphis.

As found estate condition; the headboard missing one rondel; later fabric to tester; some later brace blocks to tester; posts and rails with scuffs and wear; some molding loss at top of some posts.
