French Empire Parcel Gilt Wall Mirror

Early 19th century, rectangular architectural form featuring a fruitwood veneered frame with gilt filet with lion and urn floral relief mounts, flanked by two ebonized fully turned columns with palm capitals and gilt torche and ribbon relief mounts, molded cornice with gilt foliate mounts, surmounted by a pediment comprising two doves, quiver, and torch between laurel garland finials.

57 1/2 x 36 1/4 x 5 1/2 in.

From the Estate of the late Mr. Oscar E. Menzer, Memphis, Tennessee. Oscar was a renowned architect and Yale graduate who studied under the greats: Eero Saarinen, Philip Johnson and Louis Kahn; designing 100s of the most beautiful homes of Memphis.

Some scattered chips and losses to the gilt relief elements; surface staining and some veneer cracks; old insect damage; silver loss and degradation to mirror.
