American Federal Cherry Tall Case Clock

Circa 1800, hand-painted iron arched face with fruit spandrels flanking an unsigned round main dial, and subsidiary seconds dial, calendar aperture, and lunette with moon phase, unsigned brass two train weight driven movement striking on an apical bell, with suspension spring pendulum and two iron weights; the carved cherry case with poplar secondary, he dovetailed hood featuring swan neck pediment and three turned finials, four fully turned baluster columns, trunk with hinged rectangular door with cockbeading, chamfered corners to the trunk and base, and raised on rounded flush molded base. Includes case key and winding key.

89 1/2 x 19 x 12 in.

Scattered old nicks to the edges, scratches, and a few shrinkage to the trunk and base cracks; a few areas of veneer patches; paint losses to dial with some age crackle; loss to terminus of hour hand and minute hand is loose; one rosette later on the pediment; backing with some later nails.
