Meiji period (1868-1912), bronze with gilt, of lobed circular form rising from a short spreading foot to a broad everted rim, finely worked in relief with four landscape panels encircling the vessel over a gilt ground depicting famous scenic places in Japan, the shoulder and lower register densely engraved with geometric archaic pattern and accented with applied foliate medallions, with seal to the underside.
13 1/4 x 19 in. diameter
Overall good condition; some scattered areas of surface marks and oxidation spotting to crevices.
