An Asian Carved Stone Buddha Head

Chinese or Korean, likely 7th or 8th century, stone with traces of white and red pigments, a rounded serene face having downcast eyes beneath gently arched brows, softly modeled cheeks and small pursed lips, the hair is arranged in deeply rounded spiral curls, rough uneven underside of neck.

10 x 5 1/2 x 5 1/4 in.

Small losses to each ear lobe; a few tight cracks; scratches to side of face; surface wear commensurate with age; areas of restoration.
