Late 19th century, parquetry mixed wood inlays, unsigned, the sewing box of dovetailed square form, hinged lid featuring a central geometric petal form and intertwining square patterned surround, inlaid leaf form key escutcheon, green upholstered interior with divided lift off tray (6 x 11 x 11 in.); the letter box of rectangular form, ornate tessellated parquetry inlays to the hinged lid, opens to a divided interior (4 1/8 x 6 1/4 x 3 7/8 in.).
From the Estate of the late Mr. John L. Stone and Mrs. Josephine T. Stone, Middlesex, North Carolina Sewing box with cracks to lid and base panel; green upholstered interior is vintage but probably not original; letter box lid not flush when closed.
