A graduate of Michigan State University, Ramsey studied painting, art history, and philosophy before beginning her career as an architectural renderer and interior designer at General Motors. She later worked successfully as a freelance renderer and graphic artist in New York, Dallas, and San Francisco. In 1989, she settled in Arizona and returned to fine art, focusing on paintings and commissioned portraits in pastel and oil. Her training has been further informed by extensive travel in the United States, Europe, and Japan, as well as study with artists including Milt Kobayashi and Burton Silverman.

Ramsey’s work has been presented in solo exhibitions and by invitation at venues such as American Miniatures, and has been included in juried exhibitions with organizations including Allied Artists and the Catherine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club in New York. She is a recipient of the Grumbacher Gold Medallion from American Women Artists, awarded in a national competition.
