Hardcover with blue cloth-covered boards decorated and lettered in dark blue, in illustrated dust jacket. 8vo; viii, 520pp. Inscribed and signed by author John Kieran: "To a real olympic champion, / Eddie Eagan / with all the best / from an old friend" and dated 1957; additionally inscribed and signed by olympians Olga Fikotova-Connolly and Harold Connolly: "To a great olympic champion / and nice friend / from two small olympic champs," included with the inscription are two small figural sketches indicating the couple's respective sports (discus throw and hammer throw) (Some toning and wear to extremities; small tear at half-title verso otherwise minimal wear to text block; unclipped jacket with staining, toning, and edge wear.)

Inscribed by the author to Eddie Eagan: "To my very good friend / Eddie Eagan / With all good wishes / Bill Laurence" and additionally dated "Yale Club, / New York City / March 25, 1948." (Light grime, corner bumped, spine ends rubbed; interior with light toning and mild foxing concentrated at endpapers.)

Edward (Eddie) Eagan is the only athlete to win a gold medal at both the Summer and Winter Olympics in two different sports. He won a gold in boxing in 1920 and a gold in bobsled in 1932.
