Patinated bronze, signed "G. COLIN" with reserve pastille "SYNDICAT DES FABRICANTS DE BRONZE / UNIS / FRANCE / MARQUE RESERVEE / F. LEVILLAIN," above an oval mark numbered "1354" and "10."

Private Collection, Roanoke, Virginia French sculptor, Georges Colin, studied at the Ecole Germain Pilon in Paris under Charles Valton, then at the Academy in Paris under Jules Thomas. From 1899 to 1914, Georges Colin exhibited at the Salon, notably
La Course a l'abime, a group in wax (1901), the model of Santos-Dumont in plaster (1914) designed for the city of Saint-Cloud, and the following statuettes in plaster:
Elegie (1905),
Femme au sablier (1907),
Danseuse aux marionettes and
Ulysse (1910),
L'Art industriel (1912). Finally, in bronze, he contributed a statuette entitled
Chrysis (1912), a group entitled L'Age d'or (1911), and a statue entitled
Le Pilote (1913), cast by Arthur Goldscheider. Another bronze,
Pour la patrie is found at the Museum of Bar-le Duc; while a second model of the same work appears at the City Hall of Paris.
