English Chippendale Mahogany Bureau and Bookcase

Circa 1780, pine and oak secondary, three part form, cove molded cornice with Greek key trim, two hinged double raised panel doors with shelved interior and four small fitted drawers, quarter column stiles over herringbone inlaid edge, the bureau with slant lid having molded edge and lopper supports, the interior with central prospect door revealing an upper hidden drawer, lower small drawer, removable lower shelf revealing a hidden compartment, the interior case with ten small graduated drawers, the case with three graduated lipped drawers, repeating quarter column stiles over barber pole inlaid edges, straight bracket feet.

Attractive old patina throughout; the cornice with some edge chips and denting; upper right door top panel with shrinkage cracks; later H-hinges; some interior drawers with patches to the drawer fronts; slant lid interior with later oak board at hinge area; pulls are in the original holes; lower right stile missing capital; front feet with later return panels; slight warp to lid; lower case sides with shrinkage cracks.
