Wayne Ensrud is a painter known for abstract figural subjects and seascapes. Born in Albert Lea, Minnesota, he earned his BFA from the Minneapolis Institute of Art, where he met Oskar Kokoschka, an important influence on his work. In 1975, Ensrud exhibited watercolors of Bordeaux châteaux and vineyards at the French Institute Gallery in New York, leading to commissions for wine-related menus, posters, and restaurant interiors.
