Late 19th century, silvered bronze, both signed "E. Guillemin" to the naturalistic terrace, comprising two bronze groups of dueling cavaliers.

Private Collection, Roanoke, Virginia French sculptor, Emile-Coriolan-Hippolyte Guillemin, focused primarily on heroic or exotic genre figural subjects, which are known for their realism and lively naturalistic sense of movement. He began exhibiting at the Salon in 1872, presenting statuettes of Roman gladiators,
Retiaire and
Mirmillon, followed up by several busts in bronze and plaster in subsequent years.
