Gilt bronze and glass, signed "Pinedo" and with the "BRONZE GARANTI AU TITRE PARIS" seal to the tiled terrace, mirror posterior stamped "PINEDO / PARIS" within a rectangular reserve.

Private Collection, Roanoke, Virginia A master sculptor and medal engraver of the 19th century, Emile Pinedo's oeuvre concentrated primarily on the female form as well as Middle Eastern and mythological figural themes. Pinedo trained in the atelier of the famous French sculptor Augustin-Alexandre Dumont, known as Auguste Dumont (1801-1884). Emile was also a successful bronzier, learning the casting trade from his father. As a sculptor, he made his exhibition debut at the Salon in 1870, winning various awards for his sculptures including a gold medal at the Paris Salon of 1878.
