Gertrude Lowe Whelpton was a British artist known for her work as an animal portrait painter. Census records indicate that she spent part of the late 19th century living in London before returning to Sussex, where she remained for the rest of her life. She never married, and over many years consistently identified her profession as an animal portrait painter, reflecting a sustained dedication to the genre.
