Alice Virginia Kettelhack was a Long Island watercolorist best known for her luminous seascapes, coastal landscapes, and atmospheric studies of sky and water. Born in Brooklyn Heights, she studied at the Art Students League in Manhattan under noted artists Frank DuMond and George Bridgman before pursuing a career that combined commercial art and fine art. Although she worked in a variety of media, watercolor became her defining medium. A resident of Amityville, New York, for more than five decades, Kettelhack exhibited widely across Long Island and New England and was regarded as a respected figure within the regional art community.
Toning and spotting below the glass, mostly impacting the mat and lightly impacting the sheet, not examined outside the frame.
