Frederic Schiller Cozzens was an American marine painter, illustrator, and watercolorist renowned for his detailed depictions of yachts, sailing vessels, naval events, and maritime life. Born in New York City, he gained national recognition through illustrations for publications such as Harper’s Weekly and The Daily Graphic, as well as for his celebrated portfolio American Yachts: Their Clubs and Races (1884), which documented the golden age of American yachting. His work was widely exhibited and is now represented in major collections including the New-York Historical Society, the Museum of the City of New York, the New York Yacht Club, and the National Maritime Museum in London.
