Circa 1840, burl wood veneer, top with molded edge, scrolled front hinged lid opening to reveal a single drawer and open compartment, hinged leather writing surface with adjustable stops, supported by two scrolled carved legs, the case with four flush drawers to the right and faux drawers to the legs, conforming base with button feet, the top panel can be removed to reveal hidden compartments (likely original accessed with another route).
