Dated Showa 12 (1937), ink and colors on paper, woodblock print, signed Hasui together with with a red artist seal Kawase to lower left corner of print, title and date to lower left margin, published by Watanabe with his "C" seal mark to the lower left margin, presented under glass professionally framed with mat in a dark wood frame with rounded corners.

Frame dimensions 20 3/4 x 16 3/4 in., Sight size 15 1/4 x 10 1/2 in.

Purchased in Japan during the late 1940s.

Hasui Kawase was one of the leaders of the Shin Hanga movement in Japan. He focused on making prints that illustrated the beauty of Japan's natural landscapes with special emphasis on seasonal color and light effects of sunrise, sunset, rain and snow. He received the high honor of being named "A Living National Treasure" in 1956 for his contributions to the arts.
