Late Qing dynasty or early Republic period, an elegant rouleau shaped vase, porcelain hand-painted painted in underglaze blue with literati figures and their attendants in lush gardens engaged in the four scholarly pursuits: painting, calligraphy, music, and gaming weiqi/go, a blue key border encircles the outer rim, a thick band of peonies over a wan pattern ground to shoulder and above foot rim, unmarked.
