A Pair of Tibetan Sterling Silver Butter Lamps

Lot Details & Additional Photographs

Each 6 in., 4 in. diameter

These lamps were placed before images of deities in Buddhist temples and home shrines. These lamps were intended to hold offerings of ghee (clarified butter) used as ritual fuel. The pair evokes abundance and prosperity through their lotus form bases and finely engraved floral decoration.

Good estate condition; some pushes and surface wear consistent with age and use.
