The first is ink and graphite on paper, 1996, signed and dated "Jim Biggers 96," matted and framed under glass (Frame dimensions 15 1/2 x 20 in.) (minor foxing to sheet, not examined out of the frame); the second is graphite on paper, 1996, signed and dated "Jim Biggers 3-96" at lower right, matted and framed under glass (Frame dimensions 26 x 20 1/4 in.) (soft cockling and minor foxing to sheet, not examined out of the frame).

Included with the lot is a copy of "Telling Our Stories Through Poetry: A Student Anthology." Note that this may require additional postage.

James Converse "Jim" Biggers Jr. was a North Carolina artist, educator, and mentor whose career spanned painting, drawing, monoprints, and public art. A nephew of renowned muralist John T. Biggers, Jim drew lasting inspiration from his uncle, who became an important artistic mentor and collaborator. After earning a master's degree in art education from Appalachian State University, he taught art in public schools, colleges, and museums, while exhibiting his work throughout North Carolina. His paintings explored themes of mythology, mathematics, African heritage, and cultural history, reflecting a lifelong commitment to artistic inquiry and education. In the early 1990s, he collaborated with John Biggers on major mural projects at Winston-Salem State University and Hampton University, helping to extend his uncle's artistic legacy while establishing his own distinguished career as an artist and teacher.
