Robert William Wood was born in England, but found his inspiration in the American Southwest. After serving in the Royal Army as a young man, he and a friend immigrated to the United States. He traveled all over the country, but finally settled in San Antonio, Texas with his family. Here he began seriously studying art and focusing on his paintings.
After almost twenty years in Texas, Wood relocated to Laguna Beach, California. He would continue to travel, spending time in Woodstock and then the California Sierra Mountains. His fame continued to grow, with his paintings finding eager buyers then and today.
Stable minor craquelure; faint stretcher marks; minor chipping to gilding along left edge of frame.
