Peter Chikumbirike was born on the 12th of July 1958, the family's fifth son of 18 children. Peter along with his brothers, Moses, Canaan and Israel are all well-known sculptors working in Harare, the capital city of Zimbabwe. Working in a variety stones including Verdite, Cobalt Stone, Butter Jade and Spring Stone, Peter's figural pieces explore traditional Shona culture and are recognized by their naturalism, movement, and finely crafted detail.
