A Continental Porcelain Plaque, Trauernde Psyche

Probably German, circa 1900, hand-painted porcelain plaque, impressed "107" and labeled to the posterior with ink inscription "107 / Trauernde / Psyche / ...," the scene similar in composition to a painting "Psyche by the Sea" by Wilhelm Kray (1828-1889), set within a fine ornate gilt metal frame stamped on the verso "ROYAL M. MFG. CO.," Detroit, Michigan, circa 1900.

Plaque 5 1/2 x 3 3/4 in.; frame 8 x 5 in.

Good estate condition; some minor rubbing to gilt frame.
