Henry Hannig emigrated from Germany to the United States as a child and studied art in Chicago under Lawton Parker and at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, where he developed an Impressionist style characterized by bright colors and broken brushwork. To support himself, he worked in industrial design, illustration, and later as art editor of the South Town Economist, while remaining active in Chicago’s German community. Known for both paintings and strong pen-and-ink drawings, including Western subjects, Hannig moved to Charleston, West Virginia, around 1939 to work for Union Carbide and remained there until his death in 1948.

Minor rubbing to edges of panel. Overall in good estate condition.
