1980, enamel painted aluminum, both ink signed and dated 1980 to the ends, 6-inch wide ribbons in 3 and 4-foot lengths with matching multi-hue decoration on a white ground.

Approximately 36 x 8 x 10 in.; 48 x 8 x 10 in.

A prolific and talented artist, Dorothy Gillespie shared her talents by teaching and lecturing at various colleges throughout her lifetime. Her exuberant colorful dancing strips and ribbons have graced many public spaces including an installation of 185 sculptures that comprise “Color, Light and Motion” to fill the plaza in front of New York’s Rockefeller Center in 2003. Her sculptures may be found in numerous public collections and museums including the North Carolina Museum of Art, Raleigh, NC; Thalian Hall, Wilmington, NC; Asheville Art Museum; and more.
