New York, circa 1920s, patinated and gilt bronze, signed "THE SEGAR STUDIOS NY" to the underside, featuring a pieced globe frame with scrolling vegetal motifs, alternating masks and armorials at the center, surmounted by a hinged pedestal figure and enclosing a gold iridescent glass globe shade, supported by a four Atlas figure pedestal stand with spreading hammered base and three bun feet.

Oscar and Max Bach established BACH BROTHERS, and soon after Oscar B. Bach Studios, Inc. at 257 West 17th Street. During these early years Oscar and Max Bach's metal shop stayed busy creating beautiful household objects for moneyed New Yorkers as well as custom architectural works for America's great country estates.

In April of 1923, upon an acrimonious split with a third business partner named Bertram Segar, the Bach brothers moved to a new studio at 511 West 42nd Street and renamed their firm Oscar B. Bach and Associated Craftsmen. Bertram Segar remained in the West 17th Street studio, renaming it The Segar Studios. There, Bertram Segar continued to produce many of Bach's original designs and variations on Bach's designs, either selling them in an unmarked state or stamping them with his SEGAR STUDIOS mark.

Good estate condition; some areas of rubbing to the Aurene and patinated/gilt surfaces; small area of surface spotting to the base; later wiring, light operating well at the time of review.
