19th-Century Copper Bugle with Signature, Civil War Era

Circa 1860s dove-tailed copper clarion style bugle, ink inscribed "FBB 21," with braided scarlet red tasseled strap retaining sword form sweetheart pin with a white stone setting, engraved monogram "F" to the heart shaped charm; the tassel mounted with 1854 Liberty quarter dollar coin engraved "C.P.V. /July 26 1861" to the smoothed eagle side.

C.P.V. may reference the Cameron Guards / Pennsylvania Volunteers. According to the Civil War Index, the 30th Pennsylvania Infantry (1st Pennsylvania Reserve) was an infantry regiment organized at West Chester, Pennsylvania, from June 1 to July 20, 1861, for three years’ service in the Union Army. Known as the 1st Regiment of the Pennsylvania Reserve Corps, it drew men from across the state and was mustered into U.S. service on July 26, 1861. The regiment served primarily in the Eastern Theater and was notable for its participation in several major campaigns of the Army of the Potomac. Research has not been able to identify an individual associated with the inked inscription "F.B.B. 21" of "F" heart charm.
