Frederic Remington (American, 1861-1909), Self Portrait within an Illustrated Autographed Letter Signed

Ink on paper, addressed to Harper Pennington, the letter features a charming illustration self-portrait of the artist seated under an umbrella at his easel and holding a large palette with a cowboy on his horse in the distance, the letter reads:

May 2

My dear Pennington,
Don't run away to Westport before you send me the address for this summer of that bully young man model of yours because I want to use him this summer. Am plugging away. Just made a little mud look a little like a horse. Great fun. Mrs. Remington sends regards - Remember me also to Redwood if you see him.

Robert Goodloe Harper Pennington (1854-1920) was an American artist known for his portraits of New York and Newport socialites. Pennington was also a close friend of James Abbott McNeill Whistler.
