Juan Pablo Salinas was a Spanish painter born in Madrid who studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando before settling in Rome. He became known for richly detailed genre scenes, particularly elegant historical interiors and compositions featuring cardinals and other ecclesiastical figures.

Salinas traveled throughout Italy and also worked in Paris, painting landscapes, architectural views, and scenes of fashionable urban life. His refined technique, vibrant color, and engaging subjects earned him an international following, particularly among European and American collectors.
