JalinePol is a French artist from the Hauts-de-France region in northern France, also the birthplace of Henri Matisse. Her artistic practice has been deeply shaped by extensive travel and encounters with diverse cultures and landscapes. A 1979 journey to Cameroon introduced her to the vivid colors and forms of traditional batiks, sculpture, and dolls, while time spent in New Caledonia in 1986 inspired an appreciation for the colors of the Pacific and Kanak culture. In Beirut, Lebanon, in 1993, she found further inspiration in the city’s souks and surrounding olive groves. These experiences informed her “Orient” paintings, characterized by luminous compositions populated with stylized golden figures.

Pol has developed a unique style that exclusively employs a palette knife, creating a three-dimensional effect that gives her paintings a sculptural quality. Her work captures the essence of the seasons through vivid hues—spring yellows, summery reds, autumnal ochres and siennas, and winter blues and whites—making her pieces both visually striking and emotionally resonant.
