Adolf Sehring was born June 8, 1930 in Urupino, Russia. He emigrated to the U.S. in 1949 at the age of 19. Two years later he joined the U.S. Army and fought in the Korean War. Adolf started drawing at the age of six and over time became a renowned master realist painter and sculptor. He was the only American artist to be commissioned by the Vatican to paint the official Papal portrait of Pope John Paul II. The painting is part of the Vatican collection. He was also commissioned by Gloucester, Virginia to create a bronze sculpture of Pocahontas.
