From Florence to Philadelphia to Elizabeth City, North Carolina
Emanuele Caroni's Telegram of Love was one of three sculptures by the Italian artist shown at the Philadelphia World's Fair, The Centennial International Exhibition of 1876.
Stereograph cards and the exhibitions official catalogue document the statue's inclusion in the Fair. After being exhibited in Philadelphia, Telegram of Love was moved to the house in Elizabeth City, North Carolina, where it would stay for the next 100 plus years. It was moved out of the home for the first time by the Leland Little team, to be offered in the Signature Summer Auction.
