Continental, early 20th century, somewhat roughly cut from plywood and painted, crafted with hinged roof panel and a double door on each side, the structure rests in the desirable boat form. The roof panel opens to reveal a cavity housing pairs of giraffe, deer, camel, rhinos, lions, elephants, Noah and wife, and a single chicken. Arks such as this were produced as part of a widespread cottage industry and regarded today as a category of folk art in their own right.
