Oil on canvas, 19th century, unsigned, each inscribed with the sitter's identity in Latin along top edge of canvas, presenting in matching oval gilt composition frames; depicting Roger Bacon, The first a portrait of Roger Bacon, an English philosopher and Franciscan friar, numbered 374 along lower edge of canvas; the second depicting Philip Melanchton, a German Christian Lutheran reformer and collaborator with Martin Luther, numbered 376 along lower edge of canvas; and the third an unidentified figure inscribed "Angelus Pol Gretin" above and numbered 373 below.

Stretcher size 17 x 14 1/2 in.; Frame dimensions 19 x 17 in.

Each with some surface abrasions; portraits of Melanchton and "Angelus" have been lined and placed on "newer" stretchers; light surface grime; some rubbing and chipping to frames.
