Born in Northampton, England, Robert Barnard emigrated to the United States in 1958 and attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. There, he earned a master’s degree and became a professor at the university, remaining until his retirement in 1989. Barnard taught courses in painting, ceramics, and art education, and served as director of the art education program. He became the president of the North Carolina Art Education Association, championing art in everyday life while producing large and expressive paintings.

Good estate condition, minor dent to the canvas, light grime and frame abrasions.
