Peg is a North Carolina-based artist who discovered her passion for painting after a long career in early childhood education. Raised in Seattle and Cleveland, she was immersed in the arts from a young age through her father, a museum director. After earning degrees from Smith College and Bank Street College of Education, she taught for nearly four decades before turning to visual art. She began painting in 1998 and found her medium in encaustic after studies at the ArtsCenter in Carrboro and Penland School of Craft.
Working from her studio in Carrboro, Peg draws inspiration from the landscapes of the Pacific Northwest and North Carolina, as well as travel, gardening, yoga, and the natural world. Her encaustic paintings have been featured in numerous regional exhibitions and are held in private collections nationwide. Peg is a member of the Orange County Artists Guild, Durham Art Guild, Visual Art Exchange, and Frank Gallery in Chapel Hill, and is represented by Craven Allen Gallery in Durham.
