Lester Gordon Van Winkle is an sculptor living in Deltaville, Virginia. He earned an MA in 1969 from the University of Kentucky. After teaching for thirty-five years in the School of the Arts at Virginia Commonwealth University, Van Winkle retired from academia as a professor emeritus. In 2003 he received the VCUarts Faculty Award for Distinguished Achievement in Teaching and in 2006 he received the Distinguished Teaching of Art Award from the College Art Association. Van Winkle’s artwork is included in many public and private collections including the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, the Smithsonian American Art Museum, the National Collection of American Arts, the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute, and The David Graham Hall Foundation, among others.

Some shrinkage cracks to wood and minor rust spotting to metal; a few holes to underside from repositioning.
