Serial number 505686 present on receiver rearward of trapdoor, text of US MODEL 1884 present on top of trapdoor, text of US SPRINGFIELD and eagle present on lock plate with single half cock and full cock hammer, characters V P, eagles head, P and I are present on 29 1/2 in. barrel with elevation adjustable rear sight and fixed front, three sling loops, retractible bayonet, character M and encircled ornate P stamp present on toe line of walnut stock, characters 1 D 23 present on right side of walnut buttstock, stamp of three scripted characters over date 1890 present on left side of stock above trigger guard, steel buttplate with characters US present on top bend and rotating cavity to house two extra rounds, bayonet.

Overall good estate condition, bore rifling present and displays some pitting and frosting, old brown gun patina over all metal surfaced, positive half and full cock, stock shows long years of use, numerous moderate wounds elsewhere, no visible cracks found, bayonet in good condition with well functioning deployment and retracting, top tang screw very proud of tang and likely poorly fit replacement.
