Serial number 68232 present on top of trapdoor receiver, text of US MODE 1878 present on top of trapdoor, text of U S SPRINGFIELD and eagle image present on lock plate with single hammer with the cocking positions, numerals 15 stamped on top tang, characters P V P and eagles head present on 32 in. barrel with elevation adjustable rear sight and fixed front sight, cut down walnut stock with steel buttplate showing US marking on top bend.

Overall poor estate condition, rifling thoroughly frosted with lands still visible, old brown gun patina covers all metal surfaces, forward lock plate screw appears to have broken tip, significant screw slot damage throughout, trapdoor release is loose, forend of stock cut down to just forward of rear barrel band, moderate damage to stock throughout with some finish pickling on right side indicative of heat damage.
